G751J Left USB problems?

Just picked up a G751J laptop and i love it very much and hope i can get some insight on this problem.

I have already updated BIOS and Drivers as well.

I have posted a video to show what happens.

I have a 64GB HyperX 3.0 Drive and i have had no problems with this usb. When i plug it in to the left bottom USB port it does not work as you can see from the video.

Top port works fine so far.

I have tried other usb drives and seem fine.

Is this a problem with these laptops...if so is asus working on a quick fix for these very expense laptops?

Any insight would be great! If anyone else is having this problem hope this thread will help and video!

Hi Rammstein

Yes the left hand side USB port has issues with some laptops. I am also facing this same issue. I don't know about any solution from ASUS though. I hope it gets solved quickly.

Yeah me too maybe someone from Asus could give us an update on this...Is everyone having a problem or just a few people? Should i return this laptop for a new one...if i do that i might have to wait cause these ones go out of stock quick...

Yes the left USB 3.0 ports are on a daughter board and some people do have issues. Since you have the issue on one port and not the other I would not trust the one that seems to work either. These will work just fine for USB 2.0 but not be reliable for USB 3.0. This has been an issue since the G75 models I am amazed that they havn't solved the issue in all these years but I guess so few people out of all the units they sell that have this issue. Some have RMA them over this and some have had the problems solved some not.
I have worked around the issue by using a Right hand USB 3.0 Adapter cable and using a USB 3.0 hub I connect this on the right front USB 3.0 ports that is the port that has extra power going to it for charging Devices this has worked out pretty well for me. I just use the Left ports for USB 2.0 Devices. I use my Bluetooth mouse adapter in the rear port it fits under the cable going to the back of the notebook.
