Ginseng, when you are using the laptop in normal every day use, you will be moving around, not staying immobile in front of the laptop. Yes, much of the time you will be well centered on the laptop, but if you are moving around a lot as most of us do, you will be constantly re-adjusting the angle of the laptop - -pushing it left / right and changing the tilt of the screen to optimize your viewing angle.
A good wide angle viewable screen goes a long way to reducing that annoying constant adjustment.
And, when shraing a view of the laptop, it is reassuring that when you point it at someone you don't have to futz with the angle/direction too much for them to get a good view of what you are sharing.
The matte finish TN AUO and Chi Mei screens aren't bad, I have lived with and shared views of the JW/JX/JH over a long period of time, and the only time it makes a difference that it is a TN is for up/down angle. I can get below the perfect view easily, and need to readjust the tilt for longer viewing times - like watching a movie - and if it has a lot of dark scenes you need to adjust the angle to enjoy the movie.
The fast IPS in the G751 is a big win
🙂As to Glossy or Matte, I find the Matte is much more usable in real life. If I set 2 laptops with otherwise identical screens, 1 matte and 1 glossy next to each other - I prefer the Glossy.
But, when I take the Glossy screen laptop home and live with it at home, outside, and at work, I take back the Glossy and get the Matte. I have done that 2 times before I learned I need/prefer the Matte screen for everyday use.
There are so few places that I can get perfect lighting and non-reflective surroundings that I can't live with a Glossy screen.
When I hit that 1 perfect situation of lighting and reflections with a Glossy screen, it just heightens my awareness of how sucky it is to live with the Glossy screen - everywhere else
