G751 JY - Black Screen Issue

Hi all,

unfortunately I've been struck with the black screen issue on my G751 JY. I've been using the notbook since 12/2014.

The notebook's display won't display anything anymore. Most of the time not even the backlighting is working.
However when connecting the notebook to an external display, the system is booting and working flawlessly.

I've tried a whole lot of stuff to sort out the problem, but nothing seems to fix it.

- removed the HDD, the 2nd HDD, the RAM modules (alltogether or in parts)
- drowned the battery to zero
- let the PC sit overnight
- tried all the power buttons "tricks"
- tried the sleep mode on / off hint

and most the stuff I found on that matter.

What really strikes me is that I had the same problem about a month ago.
After a good nights sleep the display worked again. Without doing a thing.

This time it seems it's not coming back again.

Is there anything else I might try before RMAing it back to Asus?

If you cant even get into BIOS with it and it works with an external display its either the panel itself or the connection to the mobo.

well, I can get into the BIOS with the external display. 🙂

But not with the notebook's display. Would you say this is something you should RMA for or something you could fix yourself?
