When I turned on my laptop It didn't do anything, there was a black screen and the keyboard was red as usual. I left it like this for like an hour and nothing happened. I had to turn it off on the power button

This isn't Asus fault, and Asus aren't set up to do Windows debugging for users, so it is best to work it out yourselves but doing an F9 OS reset - as that is what Asus will tell you to do first thing

When i called the customer service the first thing i heard was wait, they dident mention f9 os reset.
Also i noticed a strange peak in my phonebill more then 13 euro for a phonecall that dident amount to nothing.
I wanna like asus they create some nice looking high spec laptops but if they dont work : (

CocoNutty, Asus will go through their runbook and ask you questions first before recommending F8 reset, they don't want to ask users to do that, but it is the default go to for such problems before RMA.

If you try the solutions and they don't work, return it to the seller to get another one, and this time disable the Internet before turning it on, and set Microsoft Windows Updates to not automatically install Updates - at least for a while to make sure you are happy with the hardware - and manually do the updates that check out ok.

Please let us know how it works out for you 🙂

CocoNutty, I didn't mean literally the first thing.

I corrected the wording to fix the point I was making:

"...so it is best to work it out yourselves by doing an F9 OS reset before calling Asus to see if that restores normal operation - as that is what Asus will ask you to do before approving RMA."

I was able to fix this problem on mine. This what I did. Press f9 on start up go to trouble shooting go to advanced and click the option restart with fix or diagnosis something like that, the one that repairs anything wrong on start up. Then when you finally log on go to your driver manager setting find your display adapter mine was the 970m GeForce right click it go to properties then disable it then re enable it. Shut down your laptop press f9 again choose option as stated above and you shouldn't have the problem anymore. I'll update this if it happens to me again.

Just wanted to share my solution to the problem, Im an owner of G751JT. For me the problem went away when I removed the Hibernation-file. Note that the problem only appeared to me when I did put the computer in to hibernation.

Just start the cmd.exe as an administrator and type the following command "powercfg.exe -h off". This will delete hiberfile.sys and uses sleep mode instead, not using the same settings for hibernation.

After doing this I never had the problem after putting the computer to sleep or "hibernate". It will free up about 8Gb of space on the C-drive as well as it removes the file. Nice if you have a 128Gb SSD.

(Note that my first language is swedish and not english if there are any problems with the grammars)

Wow so many issues with these models it kinda made my mind up to actually return it to the reseller after holydays 😕
Not sure how it will work from there forward, if i'l get my moneys back or if I'l be able to ask for a replacement.

Hello , I have had the problem of black screen the same day I received the PC. I turned on the computer for the first time , started the configuration of windows and crashed. I had to forcibly shut down the pc and then you are no longer on again. Problem: black screen , all the LEDs on except the processor, after 30 seconds the fans run indefinitely . After several attempts , turning on and off , the PC is started , I did the updates of windows update and these days I was not given more problems , I think I've also updated the video card driver . Occasionally, however, the computer takes too much to go off or after I put the windows password is not accessed . I asked for a refund because where I bought it is no longer available and I want to buy it back at another site to 200 € more than what I paid , but I'm afraid I have the same problem . I sent an email to asus in which I explained the problem and they responded with a short sentence : " it is a hardware problem , replace the PC ." I was not given any explanation , bad service . I believe that even they know what the problem is due . Are undecided whether to let me replace because the problem is not me giving more , but I think of the money I spent and the pc has given me from the start. We can have a definite answer on the issue by this company ? I think I 'll buy another laptop of another brand . I used google translate.

Hi everyone,

same problem here: when i resume from sleep, the screen is sometimes black, and requires re-sleeping and waking up to get the image to appear.

Backlight turns on, everything works (sounds, logging in etc), so the only problem is that the image is not appearing on the screen.

It could of course be a driver/windows issue, but if this keeps continuing there's not much else to do except to return the laptop.

Has anyone tested what happens when an external monitor is connected? does the image appear on the external display or does everything stay black?

This happens on my non-RoS laptop too (X550LB) on different occasions. I have already done an O/S reset (Win 8.1) twice in the 10 months it is in my possession. I experience this most often than not every time my system auto-installs an update or install an old game like "Bioshock" with a very old .net and DirectX driver set (Steam's fault for selling games so cheap over the holidays!) Learned the hard way and am now managing my updates.

Another pain in the butt is the pro-active update install system of McAfee that pretty much checks your system and dl's / installs updates on your apps and O/S every so often which I believe also conflicts with Windows' built-in update list, so installs get in conflict with one another. BTW, switched off the McAfee thing - what a pain.

Still waiting for my G751JT though but am expecting the same if I don't manage the Windows update installs like I do now with my non-RoS.

I guess it's not a windows update issue, cause i have 3 pc which is running win 8.1 with all updates installed and only the g751jy doing this issue. I need to hold the power button and reboot to get it working. It is totally random sometimes boot, sometimes not. First when i got my rog it went dead after 8days,the whole mobo died,no boot at all. The pc shutdown itself after 3 seconds. I didnt have any replacement option so i sent it to RMA. I had to wait nearly a month to replace the mobo. In the first 8 days it didnt do this. Now, it started to do the same as mentioned above. It is frikin annoying cause i had to wait nearly a month to get it "fixed" and now it's a sometimes work, sometimes not machine. What should i do? Cause i really dont want to send it on RMA again beacuse it's frikin slow and crap.
Sorry for my bad english.
