G751 Hard Drive constantly whirring and slow performance.

Hello,

I recently upgraded from G75 to G751JY. Using Windows Explorer about every time I click into a new folder I first see
"This folder is empty" and followed by the HD whirring before the files and folders show. I know it's a 2TB drive and
probably a cheap 5400RPM one but it feels like a problem with the drive. Any suggestions on how to test it and do
others have this issue?

You can adjust you power settings to prevent the HDD going into sleep mode.

HD Tune is what I use. however each hard drive manufacture has a diagnosis tool on there website for free. Any from what your are saying you may well have a defective hard drive. I suggest you get a 256GB SSD it will change your life.

Thanks. HD Tune detected no issues with the drive. The drive I think is ok and probably just doesn't meet my rather high expectations. I reckon i'll replace it at some point with a faster (and quieter) one.

Yes SSD are very quite and very fast.
