G750JX - "SSD" not connected???

When I had my laptop open, noticed something curious.

There is clearly labelled provision on the motherboard and on the separate circuit-board to connect both "HDD" AND
"SSD".

My unit has a 256gb SSD, and a 1tb HDD.

However only the HDD connection has a ribbon.
Presumably both my drives are communicating through the same ribbon...

Is this normal?

I have noticed that writing to my big drive is comparatively slow, but I just put that down to its large size and unspectacular speed?

Perfectly fine. Both drives are on the same IDE Cable (What you're calling the ribbon)

What's your write speeds for the SSD and HDD? And what do you mean by the SSD not connected? ';f

As I said, there is provision to connect both the "HDD" and the "SSD" but only the "HDD" connection is used.
