G750JW BSOD Possible Memory Issues

Hey all, I bought a G750JW last summer. Back in December it started giving me BSOD's. At first it was just the odd BSOD maybe once a day (usually while browsing the internet or streaming Netflix as that's primarily what it gets used for with some light gaming thrown in too). Over the course of a week the BSOD's got more and more frequent, to the point it will do it every time the lap top is turned on and just a few minutes after the desktop has loaded.

I'm just now getting around to posting this and asking because 1) I'm lazy 2) I've been using my work laptop in its place 3) I'm out of town/state frequently for work (for up to weeks at a time) so getting around to fixing this has been on the back burner 4) I'm lazy

I've seen it give me a wide variety of error codes for the BSOD: Bad_Header_Pool, Kernel_(something or other), etc. (I forgot most of them as I last messed with over a month and a half ago).

I tried doing a fresh reboot of windows and ensuring all my drivers are up to date, but it still gives me these same BSOD's.

I'm thinking it's a memory issue based off the codes it giving me. I did try doing a memory check, but that report came back clean. Could a RAM stick be faulty? Or am I completely off base here? I'm not real tech savvy so most of my trying to fix this laptop has been a real PITA. I do have a somewhat tech savvy friend who has helped some along the way (he believes its a memory issue, hence why I do), but nothing I/we've tried has come close to confirming the problem let alone resolving it.

Oh wise sages, please advise.

Got same issue with g750jw it was a ram stick failure I got 16gb there (2x8gb) so I put 1 stick out and find out that without it it was running good with no bsod's in browser after startup. I even put that stick to another laptop which was not asus and got same bsod the most fameous was kernel power 41))) After all I ordered new ram stick (same as was installed) and everything worked fine! Also all tests I done where good so there where hard to locate the problem because kernel power 41 can be related to lot of things like power supply cpu power ram etc.

Also remember that you need 1.35v 1600mhz memory! 1.5v memory may cause bsods and system failure!

Thank you for your response! I'm planning on ordering 2x8gb kit off of amazon (1.35v of course) to replace the stock ones that I'll have to pull the whole back off to get to. And if that fixes it I'll be buying another of the exact same kit and a SSD, which should be a decent boost in its performance.

This is the RAM I'm considering: Kingston HyperX Impact Black 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM 1.35V Laptop Memory (HX316LS9IBK2/16) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KQCOV5C/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_5Okuvb1ZYX7M7
And the SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-7KE256BW) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LMXBOP4/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_HQkuvb10HMAFX

Good choice! For ram replacing you need to pull keyboard module but it's not hard if you have a screwdriver))) Also do not forget to unscrew 3 tiny screws from dvd rom bay when you pull out dvd drive a lot of people forget them and when pulling keyboard module it's cracking in that place.

I'm certainly covered where tools are concerned. Thanks for the advice on removal (and the insanely timely response). Hopefully I'll be able to find a video on YouTube or a writeup to help guide me through it. I'm a pretty capable DIY fixer, but electronics is still newer territory for me so I try to tread lightly and seek lots of guidance where I can get it.

Pull keyboard module carefully and unplug 4 flexible wires you should do like with car hood open it for 50% than look inside locate wires unplug connectors then take full part off. Also you can clean dust from this point.

Thanks for all the help! Managed to get the RAM cards switched out no problem. Now it's running like it should. On the first start up this little notification popped up but I've not seen it since or noticed any issues in system performance and when i checked in system settings it reads 16gb of memory is available.

Is this stock RAM card supposed to have tape(?) over it like this?
