G750JS + 144 hz monitor question

Hello!

I have a G750JS laptop with the Nvidia GTX 870m graphic card.
I got a 144 hz acer monitor for christmas, and I went straight to the electronics store and got a DVI>Mini DP adapter.

But I still can't enjoy 120hz +, the max HZ I can get is 75.


Is it possible for me to get 144 hz or atleast 120 in some way? Or am I stuck on 75 hz?

I do have the same question. Actually i'm planning to buy a S2716DG from dell witch does support 1440p@144hz but as I researched with my G750JS and 870M I can only get 1080p@60hz thought HDMI cable.

Is it possible, somehow, to use the Thunderbolt port , any adapter of something to reach it?

I would personally say that with an 870M graphics card, 144Hz would not be possible
