G750JH - Display output - Best option? HDMI vs Thunderbolt?

Good day all,

Ok, so here is the situation.. my friends and I are DnD players, we use Fantasy Grounds to output to a digital table top (an overhead projector that then reflects off a mirror onto a whiteboard on a table. At the same time, the signal going to the projector is being split to a 2nd monitor for the DM. The reason is, the 2nd monitor runs a players version of Fantasy grounds (exactly what is projected onto the table). The current challenge is that the output to the monitor is so so.. its not as clear as it can be (we have tried lots of different resolutions and nothing seems to be good).

(Current layout : Laptop output via Thunderbolt to HDMI splitter box (that is powered for no loss of signal (or so it says)), split to monitor 2 and overhead projector

What I am wondering is:

1) is the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5 really capable of doing this?
2) is it better to output via the Thunderbolt or the HDMI itself? (someone said Thunderbolt is more powerful)
3) Do I need some sort of external 2nd video card?
4) is this doable? Is there a better way to be doing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In my view, this shouldnt be a big issue, but it seems like my laptop (The ROG G750JH) just cant handle the output like this.. 😞
