G750 Upgraders: 1.35V memory is required!

X-ROG
Level 15
Please note we fit 1.35V memory into our G750s. New Haswell CPUs require this and using 1.5V memory can cause problems along the lines of:

> Overheating
> Damage to the CPU IMC (due to the increased potential difference)
> Greater battery use than our stated values.

Also remember for every DIMM you add you increase the power consumption by 1-3W each, depending on what you buy.

Once I get ahold of a G750 to borrow for a few days I'll do an upgrade guide.

i have 32GB of memory running at 1600mhz. Is the upgrade to 2133mhz worth it?

Blackwind, you would need some specific memory intensive application, and run it constantly, to have the speed improvement / time reduction give you any real $ payback against the additional cost / time spend upgrading.

If you sold the original memory to recoup some $, that would help reduce the overall differential cost increase.

And, it will be one of the few 2133mhz equipped laptops around. Some bragging rights at the LAN party. 😉

There may be benefits, but noone has really posted much other than memory benchmark improvements, and Realbench results - the 2133mhz machines beat my results, so that's something.

Try the upgrade and let us know how it works out. 🙂

Hell guys, I need an advice.

I own G750JW-T4042H with only 6gb RAM and I do plan an upgrade. Now the thing is, what RAM should I use.

Definitely DDR3 1.35V 1600 Mhz, CL11, PC3-12800, but how much GB? There is 1x 2GB and 1x 4GB in the NTB, but does anyone know what producer exactly?

Is there going to be problem, if I will use different size of the memory? Like 1x2 GB and 1x 4GB?

What do you recommend? I want to upgrade only the 2 slots available next to the HDD - I dont want to disassemble it.

I have an ASUS G551JK. Would this RAM be suitable? Or there is a more suitable RAM stick available?

Hi guys, I have very stupid question - how it is possible that RAM works with higher freq than CPU specification indicates especially if memory controller is build in CPU?

G750JM comes with i7-4700HQ and based on intel's doc it supports mem up to DDR3-1600 (12800) which works at 800Mhz, so how it is possible G.Skulls 14900 to operate at 1GHz ?? CPU overclocked ??? Sorry if this is really stupid question

Hi All,

Not sure if you can help but since upgrading my BIOS to 210 and to Windows 10 the task manager shows my memory speed as 1600mhz. I'm using Kingston HyperX 2133mhz memory.

Anyone had this issue or know how I can sort it?

Thanks
