G75 VX monitor has no picture

On just a normal startup my screen had no picture? The sound works and the screen backlight still works but there is no picture. I have performed a hardware scan and tried to update drivers but of course the scan came back normal and drivers are upto date . Device manager says hardware is performing properly. Alsso while trouble shooting I just now realized that when I switch the monitor hertz to 40 instead of 60 hertz there is a picture but it only shows the desktop background. No icons or cursor is visable. Then when I switch it back to 60 hertz it goes black again ecept for the backlight it still works? I was able to hook my hd tv upto the hdmi and trouble shoot because it still works perfectly. Is my screen bad or is there anyway a virus is locking up the monitor and not the hdmi. I was told as a rule of thumb if the backlight still works on an led then its still good but hearing isnt beleiving. Also if it was bad why would it still have any pic at all at 40 hertz? any help at all would be great thx in advance all !! Also maybe is there a chance it could be a ram problem? I had an older laptop witch still booted up but had horrible lines across the screen because of a bad stick of ram a first but it happened. any help at all please I just re installed drivers straight from NVidia with no luck either?

In case anyone else has this problem I went to the Nvidia driver dwnld sight and downloaded the most recent drivers for the GEFORCE gtx 670mx that comes in this note book and performed a clean install of the driver. Also pulled the fan covers and filters off and cleand everything out good in case the card was getting to warm. I thought since it was only showing my desktop back ground I might have some missing or corrupt .dll files also thought I would have to try a fresh windows install for a last resort but either it was the drivers or the small amount of dust found in the filters after a couple reboots it all came back . Or I have a screen getting ready to take a pooh on me. If they can go in and out like that before they finally take a pooh Im not sure? I think I got a rare lemon from the factory because I have problems with the dvd drive reading certain kinds of new discs, the 1 tb hdd it came with went out 1 day after my 1yr warranty and now this? Even after all the problems I still love this laptop it handles everything I have thrown at it and I use it a lot more than most people so don't let this discourage anyone from a purchase or opinion of this notebook. Also if anyone knows how hard it is to replace the screens on these machines please let me know for future refferance please or if anyone has another idea of what caused this problem. Thanks again all

I narrowed the problem down to heat. I have never had a problem with this laptop getting even warm let alone hot so that was the last thing on my mind. The display drivers keep crashing and recovering. The air coming from the right back air vent is near hot but the fans are running fine and I have cleared them both out and noticed there are a set of filters under each fan is there any easy way to remove and clean these or does this require a substantial breakdown? Also has anyone else heard of these machines having this problem or is this a fluke? Ideas on how to keep it cooled better would be greatly aprieciated. Thanx in advance.

another post says it might be incompatible windows update. turn off windows update, restore to back when it was working then do updates manuly till you find the one causing the problem and don't install it
