ok all you G75VW owners that are considering upgrading to win 8.1 this is possible.
I Clean installed, used Rufus to create USB install drive. Used a Win 8.1 pro Retail ISO.
I used my $14.95 Win 8 upgrade Key to activate.
First thing installed Classic Shell, booting straight to my desktop and currently installing drivers
Will update as events dictate

512 GB M.2 Samsung 960 Pro
1 TB Samsung 850 pro 2.5 format
980m GTX 4 GB
32GB DDR 4 Standard RAM

Z97 PRO WiFi I7 4790K
Windows 10 Pro

how did you do the upgrade? is there a guide?

Well I neglected to check and make sure the UEFI USB was selected on the install so I ended up with a MBR installation, Starting over double checking everything this time.

Ok reinstalled now running GPT Win 8.1 pro
G752VY-DH72 Win 10 Pro
512 GB M.2 Samsung 960 Pro
1 TB Samsung 850 pro 2.5 format
980m GTX 4 GB
32GB DDR 4 Standard RAM
