G74sx with matte/3D display availability?

Hello!

Having settled on the G74SX-91111V model (matte 3d display, 16GB RAM, SSD) for my new notebook I was frustrated to find that for the moment there seems to be no way to get it in Germany. And no one can tell me anything about when it might be available either.

This is particularly annoying since shops in Norway and Sweden already seem to have it in stock (but I don't speak the languages, nor do I like the idea of buying something this expensive from there) and the glossy display variant already IS available (if hard to get).

So, is there any word when the matte 3D models will become available in Germany or surrounding countries?

I bought my G74SX-91026V with mate 3d display in Serbia, so i think it is available in Germany too.

Anyone know if ASUS makes a G74 model that comes with a blu-ray burner but without the 3D? I'm not a fan (at all) of the 3D fad, but I definitely need a blu-ray burner.

The G74SX-91079V seems to be available but not the 91111V. The 91079V doesn't come with SSD or the full 16GB RAM - and I could of course just upgrade it to the higher specs, but by my calculation that would be more expensive than going with the bigger model in the first place. So if it turns out that the 91111V will only take 2-3 more weeks to arrive in Germany ...

Edit: On second thought I'll go with the 91079V and upgrade it with a SSD. I'm thinking a Vertex 3 240GB. Other than the native lack of SSD and less RAM the specs are identical to the 91111V, right?

They would appear identical, yes. Plus the benefit of rolling your own SSD is you have the advantage of clean installing a fresh copy of windows 7 without all of the extra software that Asus supplies. You can then pick and choose what you like and what to install. 🙂
