G74SX Monitor Color Calibration

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has used a proper color calibration device on their G74 (non-3d display) and would be able to share their monitor calibration files or just some good tuning tips.

I do a fair bit of (amateur) photography and when I print my photos, I've found the color of the monitor is slightly overblown and favors a greenish/yellow hue.
When I print my photos they're badly misrepresented and look washed out with slightly off colors.

I can't quite afford a monitor color calibration device at this time and was hoping someone out there who has may be able to share their calibration settings.

Much appreciated!

I think it may be the "Nvidia PureVideo" at work.

I have owned 3 different G series notebooks (G60, G53, G74) and all seem to have overblown colors. Im comparing them to my Desktop which used a GTX 295 for video.

While I cant explain why out of the Box the 2 are different (Desktop G200 based to a Mobile G200m based), it seems the mobile version of the chips are setup out of the box to look more vibrant or overblown in color (atleast to me). I also noticed the greenish/yellow hue and had to adjust the tint and also the color to get the output to look the same as my desktop which looked more natural. I had the settings changed on my G53, but I havent dont it yet with my G74 so I cant give you any specific settings. I would say just adjust from maybe a picture you print and compare it to the screen next to it and make minor changes that way.

I do know that the G74's display is better then most. Definately better then the G53 which it comes to blacks and viewing angle. Anand did a write up and praised the display:

Hello there :3

I am a fair amateur also currently on Graphic design and Photography (photoshop etc) movies. I am currently using a G74SX-A1 (3D one) but they share the same color calibration.

Install This Calibrated Display monitor first

http://www.mediafire.com/?la0in5lkopfmh39

Restart your PC. Now i'm not sure if your a big fan of Splendid color technology Uility. but i am currently using it, it keeps the color detailed and well saturated in low dim lighting settings. And of course it enchance your calibration colors (red/blue/green)It makes images and videos so well detailed and not washed away or to much saturated (constrast in general)

2nd Download Splendid tech:
http://www.mediafire.com/?dplw117p96mt60b

once installed run it and
create a Custom mode and apply these:
Threater Mode
Red - 8
Green - 7
blue - 3

Now boost your Digital Vibrance to 65 (to find this right click your desktop>Nvidiea settings and go to Desktop Color settings. you should see it

Give it a shot let me know !

Thanks so much!! Colors look great! I still have to test print something, but I can fine tune with that.

Isn´t easier having a photo (from the lab where you always print, cause i think that this is also an influence to how to calibrate it) and then calibrate it with your eye, watching when you match the colors/saturation, etc?

Hi!

I tried adamsyes way with the color profile and Splendid

When I downloaded, unpacked and installed the ICC I couldn't see any remarkable changes on my monitor. I uninstalled my earlier version of splendid and installed the version linked in this thread. When I make a new custom mode in splendid and insert the info for RGB and theatre I get this really odd colors;

Someone know what's going on? 😕

Can someone check if i'm OK with this color configuration on my G53JW. I'm using Nvidia desktop color settings as "other applications control color settings" and left them default.

10639

Also, my Asus Splendid setting is set to "NORMAL" which looks normal when comparet to other profiles.

Is that normal usage with built-in screen? Will i be have to re-configure these when i connect my notebook via HDMI to HDTV?

Put the color temperature to the max on your right 🙂 that should fix it. and yea the color profile only appears when changing the color definitions (red/blue/green)
