G74SX Fan Always On

I just bought a G74SX from a local computer store. It was pretty well never used, as it was in a warehouse all it's life. My question is: does the fan always run? i just booted it up and right away the fan started at full tilt. It is not dusty as it is brand new.

Load up HWINFO64 and choose to enable the EC Sensor on the first launch. It will display CPU and GPU Fan Speeds. The G74SX fans run at ~2180 RPM at idle.

Where do I fond the HWINF064? I did a fresh windows install so it might not be there.

Type HWINFO64 in a Browser Search box and download it.

You have HWINFO64 installed - that's good! Now you need to enable the "ASUS G73 EC" Sensor (the one with the "X" in the red circle in your screenshot). It will report the CPU and GPU Fan Speeds in RPM. The "GPU Fan" Sensor under the GPU Memory Clocks ALWAYS reports "100%" regardless of what the GPU Fan Speed is at the time.

my GPU and CPU speeds are around 2100 RPM

my processor is a 2ghz one but this thing is saying they are running at 2.5. could they be overclocked right now?

The fn is still going, the laptop has been reset and is on power saver mode too.

The G74SX fans always run at ~2200 RPM when at idle. So your fans are operating normally. Don't worry, be happy... Go game in peace and triple post no more!!
