Which drivers should i update? I know where to find the nvidia ones on the site but should i keep the latest with all of the other drivers beside the bios on other sites? If so where are those sites?

Thanks

Most of the drivers on the official site are very old. Asus apparently doesn't believe in driver updates even though the have a utility to do them.

Look at my Drivers thread for newer versions. Be warned, though, many of the downloads are from Asus's FTP and are VERY slow; Asus apparently sometimes doesn't believe in high-speed Internet, either... 😕

Thanks!

1 question are the updates for the Card Reader, Utilities, and Others needed to be updated?

You should uninstall all of the Asus Utilities except Power4Gear, Wireless Console 3, and LifeFrame3. You could even uninstall those but you'd lose some slight keyboard functions.

I don't mean to uninstall the ATK package. That is a driver.

Wherever possible, you should find driver updates from the device manufacturer because Asus doesn't believe in updated drivers. For example, your Card Reader driver may come from Realtek, so you would find THIS page.

Good Luck! 😄

Greetings JRd1st, I have done a clean install replaced all drivers with ones from the manufacturers including the newest intel cntrino wireless one which made a huge difference in lag...anyhow to my question, the card reader on my g74sx-bbk7 is the only part i can't get a driver from the manufacturer to work, the only one that seems to is the one from the asus site but it says on the downloaded folder for(g73sw only)even though its on the g74sx web site?? is there a fix for this or am I stuck with that driver? thanks

No fix needed....that IS the driver for the G74 as well. I imagine they used the exact same Realtek device in the two models, and just didn't bother to prepare a new installer package for the G74.

Just a little comment on Power4Gear, I was able to isolate an issue that I have with old and semi-old games by removing Power4Gear.. The issue was that, about once every 2-5 minutes, I get a graphical freeze on older games, which lasts about a half a second or so. I got these problems on C&C Renegade, C&C Red Alert 2, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4. Removing P4G removed the problem as well..

I'm not that knowledgeable on what each utility and driver does, but what exactly does Wireless Console 3 and LifeFrame 3 do? Am I missing out on anything? The only ASUS drivers I installed was the ATK package, but I also saw you recommend downloading a KB driver, what does that do?

Thanks in advance!
