Hello guys,
I was about to purchase a G74SX A1 from B&H Online store as it is a reliable store & had a very good price compared to others. But today when I checked the site it said that this product has been discontinued by the manuf. Not only the A1 but several other models.
When I contacted their reps. they too said that the production is stopped.
Is this true guys?

Thanks for ur replies.
Seeing such a low price of the A1 on J&R hints that they too are pushing to empty the remaining stock. So i think it wont be wise to get it from there. All the other sites quote above 1550$ so I cant go for it(coz i gotta pay addit. 150$ tax In NY).
Anyways is the G53 DH71 a good model.Suggest me a 500/750GB HD "if it has an empty HD bay".

Is the G74SX-A1 the specific configuration you want? There's no reason not to get that one.

Check and see if you actually have to pay sales tax in NY if you buy from Amazon. I haven't kept up on this, but it used to be that you didn't have to pay tax on Amazon purchases unless you lived in a state where they have an operational presence.

@BradyBoy
Yes,Amazon does charge sales tax in NY & some other states,so that affects my budget of 17k$ by 150$.I was inclined towards the A1 bcoz betwn it & the DH71 the only diffrnce is the processor + it does not include the bag & mouse. So its not worth the price diffrence.
Shall i get the A1 from either JR Or Adorama?

Adorama is.a very reliable outfit. I buy photographic equipment from them.

I can't recommend either of them one way or another, because I've never done business with them. If you have a little time to watch availability and price, I'd watch the Amazon listing for a week or so, and look for a chance to buy it directly from Amazon. (Unless one of those other sellers has a similarly generous return policy.) I've seen that model come and go there several times in the past 2-3 months.

You mentioned that you're going to have a friend in NY get it for you. Will anyone have a chance to open it here (in the U.S.) and test it before it gets to you in India? These models can occasionally have issues that require owners to return them or send them in for repair. I'd hate to see you in a position where you've got a problem unit in India and can't get help with it there.

Yes,I ll tell my uncle to use it for a few days, but he wont be able to test the games bcoz he is not that much into tech.
Do the newer G53 TH71 models have those problems?(What problems are u exactly talking about?)

Ok,I ll do as u say.
Just one more thing, even if these issues arise later they can repaired under warranty, right?Bcoz there are Asus service centres where I live,so I guess I ll be able to use the Global warranty even in India to get these issues resolved.
So which model would u guys suggest for my budget of 1550$?
Hoping I ll soon be a happy ROG Lappy owner...
😄

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think the ASUS G74SX-NH71 has pretty nice specs, and the cost is $1400.
