G74Sx-A1 Blu-ray DVD combo died !?

Hi,

for some reason, my Blu-ray drive looks to be dead:

- Every I/O is unlocked in the BIOS;
- In BIOS, where I can see the SATA connected devices, can't see my Blu-ray drive;
- Upon power up, the Blu-ray LED never light up;
- Drive not existing in Win 8;
- Pressing the eject button does nothing;
- Tried removing and re-connecting the drive, not helped;

It was working well from purchase (more than a year ago) to about a month ago (re-installed a game a month ago). I think I used it like less than 10 times since I purchased the rig.

Any idea of what I can do?

clean laptop inside and connect, update BIOS and load default, send to asus service center to check it.

thanks for the reply. I'll check for BIOS update, but I think I'm up-to-date. Thing is that it was working and then it stopped. I have a G51Jx too, so I'll try to swap the drives to isolate the problem between the drive itself or the G74.

If it's the drive itself, can I send it to Asus by itself without my G74 for investigation?
