G74Sx-A1 Battery Not charging - Screen issue

Retired
Not applicable
Not sure where else to post this as I can't find a board for it... Maybe someone can redirect? Just received this notebook and have noticed possible problem with battery. Battery won't charge beyond 70%. System won't boot or run from battery. Although, the system starts fine on A/C power and it shows the battery is charging it won't charge beyond 70% and again I can't run the system on the battery, (not even to get into the BIOS). What's wrong? Do I have a bad battery or charger?

Another Development... Screen will turn off after 30-seconds if i'm sitting there reading something on the screen not moving the mouse or typing... This is rather annoying... I've gone into the power settings in Windows 7 and have told it to NOT turn off the screen... Doesn't work... it doesn't even do the step before that... Which is DIM the screen... it just turns off, or rather goes black, but everything is still back lit, if that makes sense...

Any help? Thanks.

Sounds like it may be a bad battery. However I would try draining the battery and recharging if you can. Will it boot at all with battery and not go into Windows or it won't even turn on?

The screen turning off sounds more like a screen saver since the back light isn't actually turning off. Is the screen saver set to none or blank?
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

The screen was definately the stupid screen saver!

As for the battery, there is no way to drain it because they system won't even boot up with just the battery. (No way to simple go into the BIOS, with it).

thanks

Sounds like the battery is wonky. Contact your reseller for replacement.
