g74sx-3de fan noise

Retired

I recently picked up a g74sx-3de. Ive been using it for about a week now. A few days ago i noticed a slight whirring sound coming from the fans. It changes pitch every second up and down while idling. Its Really starting to bother me cause i know its there. Could i have a faulty fan or is this normal? Wondering if someone could shed some insight on what info i have given.

I picked it up online, its gonna be a few weeks before i can send it in as well. I have to fly to work to an oilfield past the arctic circle. Dont know the arctic circle? Put your finger on the top of the globe looking thingy. So technically it could be considered worse than afhganistan and just as hostile as max temp where i stay was 117d below zero at one point. Keeps meh laptop cool even if my fan completely dies =D

meh, in 20 years it'll all be gone anyway.

if this was a case where it wasn't under warranty, i'd say fix it. being a new laptop, under warranty, let them fix it. use it till you can send it in. it'll probably be fine. i've had junky old desktops that had bad fans, they'd usually quiet down a bit once they warmed up, sometimes they'd need a little tap.

A month has gone by since my post. I decided not to rma my machine. Left it on for a week or so. Sound has gone away, yay 🙂 after squashing the laptops other quirks I am quite pleased with it. GG Asus.
