G74SX 192 BIT GPU Overclocking Tread

Boosted_R
Level 8
My scores 3Dmark11, Driver Version 280.26, did not use ThrottleStop (doesn't work for some reason):

Stock Max 62*C During Test:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,ASUSTeK Compute...

OC 920/1840/1625 Max 65*C During Test:

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2630QM Processor,ASUSTeK Compute...

Never Overclocked anything before, MSI afterburner made it super easy

Running lower, same or higher settings, please post. Thanks

(Used OC settings from other site, which they say run good 24/7)

(If your running 128 bit (2GB 560M) please make a new tread)

2761 3DMarks with 950/1700.

CPU was 2670QM on my build, and top temperatures are yet pretty laughable: CPU 68C, and GPU 59C (lol).
Somebody should try and find a way to put this thing at least to build up some sweat ffs...

a: you computer is on fire
b: yes i know! full speed! overclocked well done. i can ru crysis in the ultra settings 40 50 fps
a: honestly, you're computer is on fire
b: and MW3 and skyrin
a: DUDE YOU'RE COMPUTER IS BURNING!!!!!!
b: oh.. get the fire extinguisher..

Whenever I try the overclocking with nVidia inspector I get a visible increase in performance but at the cost of stability. It's usually 10-30 minutes until the graphics driver crashes and the game (TESV: Skyrim) with it.

Configurations I've tried were gpu 900, memory 1350, shader 1800 and gpu 850, memory 1300, shader 1700. Temperatures hovered around 60°C, peaked at 64° once or twice right before a crash.

I think I might not be using the right combinations of settings. Since there are people here who seem to have made it work, maybe someone could help me? Or is this a temperature issue? I'm using the 285.79 driver.

Has there been any VBIOS update for the card? I wouldnt even know where to check...

Ladies and gentlemen, 2829 marks.

970/1800 settings and no signs of artifacts whatsoever, gpu top temps 66C.

Vantage scores, had to drop gpu to 950, 970 started to gief artifacts in middle of test and resulted to driver recovery, though gotta play with some settings more...

OK now try to play Crysis 2 or BF3 for at least hour or two and you will see 😛 GPU is quite unstable at such a clocks without overvolting and sooner or later will reset to stock clocks and freeze (close) a game you play maybe reset graph.driver...now Im on 285.79 beta and at 940MHz BF3 close and reset to stock values same behavior on 285.62 WHQL now Im stable on 910/1650/1820 for good stable play...

Yeah, I noticed that both 3DMark11 ans 3DMark Vantage don't get anywhere near maxing out the temps on either CPU or GPU. Real world may be quite different. 😉

But then again, some people buy high spec PC's just so they can overclock and benchmark. It takes the place of hot-rodding, I think.

I dont think this is about temperature only the GPU HAS limitations in voltage vs. clocks... at so high clocks (970 etc) it will not crash in 3D mark 11 but it will surely crash in the high performance games like I said...so this clocks and 3Dmark 11 scores are useless and we are interested in real and stable OC 😉 so symb try it how long will you play on those clocks...
