G74Sw Issue - Battery/AC Mode switch under load.

Thought I'd give a post here as well as the technical support page (it is still under 90 day warranty). I recently purchased a G74Sw refurbished, and I must admit its absolutely amazing. However, whenever the system load increases due to gaming, or other programs, occurs the laptop begins to switch between AC and Battery mode. To note, it also does this when no battery is plugged into the unit (No power down. Just multiple notifications of "AC mode"). I was wondering if anyone had a problem similar, and if anyone can tell me what the issue may be. I'm hoping its something simple like a bad AC adapter, and not something worse.

Thanks to any and all help that can be offered. Its an amazing laptop, and I don't want to see such a problem bring it down DB

Try this first

Go to control panel and fiddle around with the power options management.

I've tested both situations. With the battery in, I get "AC Mode" And "Battery Mode" alerts one after the other in small bursts. Without the battery in, it just repeats "AC Mode". I suppose I could go fiddle directly with the power management options. Anything in particular you would recommend altering?

EDIT: Without the AC adapter connected, I've so far received no alerts, but I'm unsure as to how accurate that is, given I think the system is taxed less when the AC isn't connected (games slow down, and the like). Also Power4Gear Hybrid is installed

Technically speaking "IF" this problem still persist even when the battery is in then the issue might be lose power connector.

Is there a good way to test for that? The power cable seems to have snugly fit into the socket, and the laptop isn't moving at all when these alerts occur. Only thing that I notice that could be triggering them is the system load increase/decrease. It almost always happens when I begin to play a game. Oddly, if I've been playing it for awhile, it usually either will not happen again, or it will happen later. It also seems to happen if the system load decreases. Say if I minimize the game window then go to a browser I had running.

Oh and at what % level your battery are? 95%?

Its happened both while charging the battery, and while fully charged. It's also occurred under both Entertainment and Performance power options. I'll give re-installing power-4-gear hybrid a shot. By the way, I hope you don't mind me asking where I could find information on the location of a service center I can take it to? Sadly I'll have to wait a few days regardless, as I'm without car (I had a lovely holiday car accident ^.^; Thing is still in the shop).

Just uninstalled the power4gear, and restarted. To test a hunch, I played Alien vs Predator 2010 for awhile, and even while running off of window's power modes, I had it switch between AC and BATT (noticed the screen dim to bat mode, and raise to AC mode. Only way I can tell it's happened while in a full screen game)

Try switching to each different power settings and try gaming for awhile.

or reinstall the power 4 gear hybrid..

Btw i strongly suggest bringing it down the service centre for the tech guys to take a look.

I would suggest UNinstalling Power4Gear. Take extraneous add-on stuff out of the loop to better diagnose the problem.
