G74 lagging!

So, for christmas i got a brand new G74sx-DH73-3D from power notebooks so i could have a better CPU in it. So, basically, I
ordered it with the i7-2860QM, and i have no issues with my CPU. However, i am still lagging when playing games like skyrim
and crysis 2 on the highest settings, which i have read that other owners have been able to do with no problem. Also, whenever i play a game in 3d the lag is increased by a large amount. Could some one please give me advice on how to fix this?

Welcome, Basilo.

Nice laptop you've got in there. With that rig, you could have played games better than mine. 🙂

Have you updated all your drivers yet? If not, here's a REALLY great starting point done by JRd1st:

You wouldn't think it's related, but the Atheros WLAN driver, in particular, causes a lot of lag and latency issues. If you have an Atheros card, be sure to update that one to the latest version linked in the 1st post of the thread PILGRIM linked.

i updated the graphics driver and the atheros card, but i still cant play crysis 2 with the hi res and dx11 on ultra... so ill overclock the gpu, because someone else did that and the temperature didnt increase at all.

What frame rates are you getting when gaming crysis 2 with hi rest and DX11 on ultra?
