G73SW poor framerate (FPS drops)

Hey folks

Recently noticed that I was getting some bad FPS drops when playing games on G73SW. Tried updating the nvidia drivers and everything, no help there. Tried the Throttlestop solution, also no dice. These games are quite old and not graphically intensive (Mass Effect 2 and 3 for example).

Did some benchmarking: New drivers and older drivers. Those numbers are pretty bad, right?

Any thoughts? BIOS is the latest version etc.

Hey, thanks for the advice. Did a few diagnostic things, found my GPU was running at 95 deg C under load. That's too high, right?

Definitely going to clean the cooling system, fingers crossed that is the issue.

That's pretty high since your approaching the 90+ and 100 mark. SHould try to keep Temps under 90 and have them hover between the high 70s and low 80s range (Under Load). A repaste of the gpu and cleaning the fans (liek you said) should do the trick.

Cleaning out the vents/fans with compressed air did the trick, temperatures back to the 75-85 range, was getting smooth 60 FPS or higher all night last night.

Don't know why I didn't think of that myself. Thanks folks.
