The AC connector of my G73 was loose and made a false contact. While investigating in the jack port I provoked a short circuit with my screwdriver that also switched off the 150W AC adapter.
Fortunately the adapter protection system has properly worked and in a dozen of minutes the green led turned on and the 19.20V juice returned to flow out of the jack!
By then, however, the battery stopped charging: led is orange and Windows says it's charging but Battery Bar and other battery monitoring software detects 0mV Charging Rate.
The battery is anyway providing its 14.6V but even with the computer off it never increase its charge.
I was afraid I damaged the motherboard charging circuit but I measured the battery bay output voltages and they seem to be normal:
pin 1: 0V
pin 2: 0V
pin 3: 3.3V
pin 4: 3.3V
pin 5: 3.3V
pin 6: 0V
pin 7: 0V
pin 8: 0.2V
pin 9: 0.2V
I already ordered a new battery from amazon.co.uk but in the waiting I was too curious not to open the (perhaps) damaged one in order to spot something blown or burnt in its internal circuit.
The battery pack is still giving 14.6V.
I wanted to share with you all theese pics.
