Hi. Hi. Just want to anounce to all that 770m upgrade on asus G73SW is possible
I am in process of instaling video driver now, will come back with benchmarks later.
Also I am pretty sure 780m upgrade is possible to. Not sure of heat problems though.
770m I installed is from Dell and vbios modding is necessary to get upgrade.

Sadly it will most probably react in same way. Shorting you mention earlier happens on gpu connector from backside and almost far left?

Yeah exatly, not on the last fat line, but the second last , there is like a separation between. 2 fat lines then the large one. it happens on the second last phat one to the left side.

i guess this are bad news 😜

Yes I believe so. Couse if you study other mxm 3.0b gpu's there is actualy separation between two first phat lines on left. But on asus it is not even if it looks like. So probably asus decided to change/modify their version of 780m and thus make it not compatible with other laptops that use standard MXM connector.
You wil know for sure when you recieve secon motherboard..

i haven't changed the driver modded by you for almost 2 years

I wanted to play Battlefield 1, the installer forced me to install newer drivers (360 minimum i believe)

so i downloaded the latest nvidiadrivers for my gtx 770m and started to mod the nv_dispi.inf according to this guide:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=377158

went into driver signing mode off installed it, but the installer would not finnish the install 😞

can you point me in the right direction once more?

Hello ppl , just saw this very interesting thread.

I dont own the G73SW but i own the little brother G53SW-XN1.
I have recently upgraded to 2860qm and i am wondering if there is a way to upgrade the GPU to something better.
I am particulalry interested in 680m.

If i just buy a standard mxm design 680m will it work ?

As far as i know i need to order :

1. The New Card (680m/770m)
2. G73JH Heatsink
3. X-Bracket

Then i need to :
1.Mod the heatsink to fit in my machine
2. Flash Card with Vbios
3. Mod the Nvidia Drivers in order for win to recognize GPU correctly.

Right?

If anyone interested I have for sale working GTX 770m with moded bios and Heatsink redy to go in G73. Im going back to 460m because I need HDMI.
