G73SW and 770M upgrade is possible

Hi. Hi. Just want to anounce to all that 770m upgrade on asus G73SW is possible
I am in process of instaling video driver now, will come back with benchmarks later.
Also I am pretty sure 780m upgrade is possible to. Not sure of heat problems though.
770m I installed is from Dell and vbios modding is necessary to get upgrade.

I dont believe you will be able to fit asus 780m gpu inside g53 laptop. I can recomend that you dont assembly laptopto be easyier to test/troubleshot.
Just take whole motherboard from chasis together with fans. Connect charger and press power button and see what happens.

it short circuits on the GFX, on the two First bars that are kinda of 2 FAT lines begining on the right side.

pj9403 under this markings on the backside it have shortcircuited i can se the burn marks.

i put a paper over but then nothing happens. , the gtx460 boots my pc, this nothing. cant even power up.

the light on the charger just vanish when plugin into motherboard.

It will never short there without reason. Probably you have shorted some coponents on gpu board with either chasis or motherboard earlier when you tested it first time.
I am afraid that 780m is fried now..
Can you take clear pictures of both sides (gpu)?

I have made room on the case, i have tested the board whit the motherboard outside the case.

I am recieven one more motherboard i bought 2 incase one was faulty.

I have got it fitted, had to modifie some on the case to get it in.

I have tested whit 460gtx starts whit no trouble,. when i put on the gtc 780m it short circuits my charger and the green light goes of.


i am using the 120w original charger, can be the problem ?

After looking at your pictures I am afraid that 780m is mechanicaly different from previous asus gpus and not compatible with motherboard. I sure hope that I am wrong. You will find out when you recieve another board.

What i have seen that you guys use normal mxm cards, and asus is speacial reverted ?, this might be one of the specials for asus laptops?`


i don't know when the next motherboard is coming, they were oredered the same day. its been 2 weeks late for the
sw board, currently on SX.

Sadly it will most probably react in same way. Shorting you mention earlier happens on gpu connector from backside and almost far left?
