G73S Battery Question

I have a G73S , which I bought new 4 years ago . Have always had it plugged in to mains electricity , as a desktop replacement , and
run it in High Performance Mode .
Never had any problems - has worked really well .
Lately , when I turn it on in morning , the battery indicator is red ( sometimes flashing ) . I boot it up normally , and battery shows on
Win 7 , as 60% , plugged in and charging . It continues to charge up to usual maximum ( 97 % ) , and I can work normally , and battery indicator goes to green .
Is my battery and/or power supply brick on the way out ?
If so , how much time do I have ?
Is it OK to work plugged in to mains electricity , with battery removed , or will this cause all sorts of problems ?
Thanks .

The battery will always go up to 100% and then lower to 97%, even while charging/plugged into a wall outlet. Here's an older thread discussing this: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?14270-Keeping-Laptop-Plugged-in-the-entire-time/page2
I hope it helps you!

Thanks Matt - I am aware of that and it is not a problem .
The problem is with the battery losing charge , while the laptop is turned off .
