G73JH Realtek driver problem with Windows 8

Hey everyone,

I own an ASUS G73JH laptop and I recently upgraded to Windows 8.
As I read in many threads in the forum - and after I experience the crash/lockup problem - I upgraded all the requiered drivers and everything seemed to work fine.

Toady the computer started hanging again after using it for a few minutes, specifically every time there was a sound playing. I uninstalled drivers and re-installed them and no luck.
I downloaded Realtek HD Sound drivers(version 2.70).

Right now I disabled all sound devices in Device Manager and the crashing stopped. If I try to enable them, Windows 8 crash after a few minutes.

What should I do?

Before I upgraded to Windows 8 I had Realtek HD sound device installed.
I didn't install any Creative drivers. Should I?

No - the Creative Sound Blaster app was the cause of the crashes in the thread I referenced.
You mentioned disabling "all sound devices in Device Manager", so I assumed there was more than just Realtek.

You might consider looking into ThrottleStop and @nuke235's workaround with it (as discussed in the last post of the referenced thread).

I had Realtek HD Sound and ATI HDMI device.
When I uninstalled the drivers, windows installed its own drivers and now I have listed:
AMD HD Audio Device
HD Audio Service

Aside from the ThrottleStop workaround, another thing you could try if you upgraded your Windows 7 installation to Windows 8, is to start over and install just Windows 8 from scratch. Upgraded installations of Microsoft OS'es are notorious for having quirky problems.

I'll try @nuke235 workaround.
I did upgrade from Windows 7, if that won't work I'll try a fresh installation.

I'll report back with the results.
