I picked up a G73JH with a HD 5870 that would turn on but LCD wont light up. The LCD is completely black. It does the same thing with or without the graphics card installed. It will not display on an external monitor either.
Is this a bad LCD or bad graphics card?
Previous owner said he cleaned fans and "put a screw through the main video cable". BUT, everything about this laptop looks like it is in mint condition.
I have had this thing completley taken apart, repasted CPU and GPU. Drained mobo by removing battery, held reset button down for 10 secs, and still same results.
Cap lock, and num lock lights are on constanly, power light is on, LED stripe on monitor turns on, keyboard use to light up until I did a BIOS reset.
