G703GI lower RAM speed after upgrade?

I decided to get another set of 32gb ram for my laptop to make it 64gb ram. Bought the exactly same brand / model / speed (G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 2800 18-18-18-43). When i installed the new 32gb ram, it became 2400mhz instead, and the timing changed to 17-17-17-39.

Is there anyway to set it back to 2666mhz? i cant find the XMP settings in BIOS thou.

The memory controller has to work a bit harder to get 4 sticks of memory synchronized. Often speeds and timings that work for 2 sticks will not work for 4. Or it could just be that the machine has a profile for 2 sticks but does not know what to do with 4 so reverts to safe memory settings. Unfortunately laptops don't have many tuning options so you might have to choose between speed and capacity.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

Thanks for the reply. In this case, i will stick to the factory 32gb for better speed then. LOL i bought the same brand but rated at 3000mhz previously but ended up with 2400mhz. Returned it and waited for the exactly same model and tried again. Ended up with same slower speed. Gonna return this ram then.

Asus DDR4 2666 SO-D 16GB 260P Part No. : 03A08-00061400

Last couple years ASUS has been using Apacer memory in their laptops.

Look for Apacer NOX memory

Apparently mine (in UK) comes with G.Skill ddr4 2800 18-18-18-43 stock. Running at 2666mhz. This is why i proceed to get the same model / brand for the extra 32gb. Anyway, i have returned the ram today since by adding extra 2 sticks gonna compromise my ram speed. I will live with the stock 32gb for now.
