Hey all i was wondering what if any issues or size things i will run into dealing with upgrading, i can get both 12mm and 7mm 2.5 inch 1tb and 2tb size hard drives, i would like to know if i can put a 2tb 7mm or 12mm drive in this laptop or am i limited to a smaller hard drive with this laptop as the computer shipped new with 2 500gb drives at the max.

I'm not sure they make a 7mm 2TB 2.5" HDD_ although I haven't really looked, but when I was searching for the biggest drive I could buy in 2.5" format for laptops I only found a 2TB 9.5mm 2.5" HDD_ but the problem is most and if not all are 5400rpm drives.

I wanted a 7200rpm 32mb/64mb cache 2TB 2.5" HDD for my laptop but wasn't able to find one so I gave up.

I think you can get away with 9.5mm and of course definitely with 7mm_ A 12mm maybe pushing it but I think its doable, It'll work, its just will it fit?

ok cool, thanks, im not all that concerned with speed of the drive, just wanted to know if it would not be able to read the hard drive over a size, like some older digital cameraes ive used and owned couldnt read a sd card over 2gb, and a old ibook laptop i had couldnt read ram over 1 gig, or a hard drive over i think 120gigs.

You can put as big of a drive as you can get; as long as it fits.
