G55VW Battery Indicator Issues

I'm having two battery related issues which I would like to resolve. The amount of time the notebook lasts on battery power seems normal. The issues are:

1. In Windows, the battery indicator remains at 100%, even while the notebook is running on battery power. After some hours of use on battery power, the notebook just shuts off (when the battery is dead). However, If I shut down the notebook while running on battery, remove the battery for a few seconds and put it back in, it will display the normal charge percentage when it boots back up in Windows. Once fully charged, it goes back to the other behavior where it just says 100%.

2. Once fully charged, the LED on the front of the notebook blinks orange (alternates between orange and green). Orange blinking normally means battery is under 10%, but it does this once it's plugged in, after it if fully charged. If I unplug at this point, it remains blinking orange while in Windows it still says 100%.

Yes, the manual seems to confirm that something's wrong. I am getting orange blinking at 100%, on AC power.

I have the same issue as guineapig. Is there a solution for this?

How to Calibrate your laptop smart battery.

This procedure will calibrate both battery, and power level indicator.

1. Plug the AC adapter into an electrical outlet and connect it to your laptop until battery is fully charged. (Battery needs to be @ lease 90% first before charging to 100%)
2. Once the battery is 100% charged then go to Control Panel.
3. Click Power Options, and then create new power plan by clicking Create a power plan.
4. Create new plan named Calibrate Battery, and then click Next.
5. Select the Never on battery value for turn off the display, and Put the computer to sleep and then click Create.
(This will prevent your notebook from turning off the display and entering Sleep mode to drain battery fully)
6. Next unplug AC adapter.
7. Select MP3 file with a bit rate of 128 kbps.
8. Set WMP to repeat mode and start the MP3 file, and let the file run.
(make sure volume is all the way down)
9. Allow the battery to discharge completely until the laptop turns off.
10. Plug in the AC adapter and restart your laptop, and charge battery full

11. Go back to power options, and set power plan back to high performance.

Hopefully this will fix your issue.
PS: You should do this procedure about every 90 days

Hello!

I tried this, but nothing happened. 😞
All remained the same.

Sorry that you are still having this issue, this procedure should work to calibrate the battery and battery indicator.
Well, looks like it's time to RMA your NB.
