I have a G55V (G55VW-ES71) that has just developed a significant issue. After shutting it down, I returned later to boot it and it now will not get past the initial ROG logo page. It loads for a few seconds with the keyboard back lights coming, then starts over again, ad-naseum.
I attempted to run the Repair option from the Windows 7 installation disc but I get an error reporting that it cannot fix the version of windows that I have installed (which is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit0.
From the installation disc I was able to get to a command prompt and verify that the hard drive is there. I tried a great many things with no luck. I tried fixing the boot record (with several different methods), making changes to the bios, etc. I have tried so many things I have lost track so I'm taking a step back to regroup.
Any suggestions for a "most likely" cause that I can start looking at? The Windows repair would seem optimum but I haven't had any luck getting it to run. Nothing I tried towards that end (for example, changing the boot order in bios) has made any difference.
Thanks,
Michael
EDIT: never mind. As these things usually go, I tried again to repair the boot sector and this time it worked (although I have no idea why it did this time and not the times I tried before).
