G551JW Motherboard problem (Possible)

Hello!

I have an approx 2.5 years old G551JW notebook which suddenly shut down 2 months ago. I tried it to turn on , but it shut down immediately after the power button light come in (But it sounded like something started for a sec inside the laptop ,maybe a vent). I removed the rams, and inserted only one back, and after that it stayed powered on, but i dont't had any screen, just black screen (maybe the screen backlight turned on , i dont remember), the keyboard light don't worked then. After few weeks i disassembled the laptop because i needed my msata to make a backup. After remove msata, and assemble back computer , i tried it turning on, and after that it's turned on , worked the screen , the rog logo appeared and it searched for boot media. Next day I installed an older sata HDD and tried to install a windows, but during the windows install (after approx 10 min powered on status) it shut down and if I tried turn it on , it turned off after the power light came in. I leaved it for a few weeks again , and after that it again turned on, but after a few minutes the screen flickered and turned on. Do you have any idea what can I do ?
I'm almost sure it's motherboard issue , but I hope anybody seen this issue and have any experience with it.

Sounds like a power issue. Do you have a voltmeter? Can you confirm the voltage coming from your power brick? Or it might be the battery in the laptop. Again using a voltmeter, check the voltage of the battery.

The charging circuit is indeed on the motherboard, if it is bad, repair is limited to a specialist, motherboard replacement (used) is easier and probably less expensive.

My notebook charger works perfectly, but I tried another same asus charger, this wont changed anything. My battery was dead in the last 1 years (since it was a gamer laptop in 90% of the use it was on charger), so I used always from charger. If i disconnected from charger it immediately turned off and i couldnt turn it on from battery.

I thinked about soldering contact problem, because the randomness of the behavior of computer.

If your battery has been dead for last year, you probably ruined your motherboard charging circuit.

I would first replace the DC-IN board (small board that has the female jack, the power plug connects into). If that doesn't work, then replace the motherboard.
