g551 Connectivity/Internal Issue

Hello,

I just recently purchased my first ROG ASUS g551 laptop (switched from mac) this iwas mainly done for school purposes ( have to run accounting software). and I needed something similar in terms of capabilities.

Im having issues turning on the back-lit keyboard. the First two days, I had no problem. But now I can't turn on the back-light when I press "Fn F4/F3" All the other functions work such as screen dimming.

Is it a problem with the Laptop?

Also, Im having connectivity issues with certain online games. I ran a test, and it turns out I was having packet loss. My provider ( Rogers Internet) Fixed it, but I'm still having a little bit of lag in on-line games ( Guild wars 2). would that be the wireless chip?

Im just wondering if I should get a wifi extender or return the laptop and get a new one?

Thank you.

Check if Asus OSD is installed and enabled. For some reason it is disabled by default. I also couldn't set the keyboard backlight properly without having it enabled. To enable it - just start the Asus OSD app and check the checkbox. Without this it looks like the backlight does not recognise the current level and does not know where to go. I hope it will work for you as it did for me.

I can't find the OSD app??

Check if you have it installed at first place (along with the ATK driver)
