G550JK Keyboard not illuminating

I have just purchased a G550JK laptop and the backlit keyboard which is supposed to illuminate red doesn't. I am not overly tech savvy so hoping someone might have a plain english version of how to fix this problem?

Did you check that the ATK software is installed? (you can get it from the ASUS website)

If you haven't already, try holding the 'Fn' key while you tap the 'F4' key a few times to brighten the keyboard light.

yeah unfortunately i have tried the fn f4 trick but no luck, thanks. Will check about the ATK software.

Worst case scenario is the cable isn't seated properly. Well, the worst case would be that the keyboard needs replaced, but the LEDs fail very rarely. Try the suggestions Maxter and Albert threw out there first. 🙂

I just experienced the same thing, just that i have had the laptop for some months now.
But as it just returned from the reparation the backlid keys did not work 😞
Have you figured out how to get it work or does my keyboard have to be replaced?
