G55 Shutdown Doesn't Really Clear the RAM Content

Just wonder if any of you guys encounter the similar issue. My G55 comes with Windows 8, and I had it upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and beefed up its RAM to 32GB. I have 8GB out of the RAM allocated for a RAMDisk.

Now the problem is, the content of the RAMDisk won't clear off if I shut down my laptop by selecting shut down on the power icon. When I turn on my laptop again, the RAMDisk content from previous shutdown persist and exist in my RAMDIsk.

On the other hand, though if I select restart on the power icon, only the RAMDisk content is cleared off.

I had checked number of times, the save image function of my RAMDisk had been disabled. It is not doing any backup on its content either, if it does, the restart function should have made it keep its content as well.

I also notice Instant On is preinstalled with my Windows 8, though Asus website stated that this software is incompatible with Windows 8. Will there be any possibility the problem I encountered is somehow related to the Instant On stuff.

One of the main point of installing a RAMDisk is to ensure the content is gone after a shutdown/restart process for security measure. If the content of the RAMDisk persist, it really defeat the purpose though...

nice tip, SUKARA@ASUS.

one note, if you turned hibernate off, you will not see the fast startup option in the power options (because fast startup depends on hibernate to work).

Thanks for the answer, after turning off the fast startup option, my RAMDisk content is cleared every time I shutdown my laptop now. 🙂
