Hello everyone,
I purchased an Asus G53SW-XA1 a couple of months back. Since I've had it, though, I've noticed just how loud it runs. From the second I turn it on, the fans are spitting very loudly, and it continues through no matter what I do on the computer. Whether I'm gaming or just idling on my desktop, the fan is nearly always spinning in such a noisy way.
I have tried:
- Looking at BIOS information; however, I have 203 installed and it looks like that's as far as my laptop can go to. 203 doesn't allow fan control from what I can see. I did try resetting to optimized defaults using F9 on the BIOS, but it didn't change anything.
- Speedfan. Speedfan tells me that my CPU fan is running at 2700RPM, yet the CPU temps themselves are merely around 38C. There's no way that I can see that lets me use Speedfan to change the fans, either, as it looks like fan control is locked on this board.
- Checking the Power4Gear Hybrid utility, as well as Windows 7's settings for cooling. I find that no matter what the setting (High Performance, Quiet Office, Battery Saving, Entertainment Mode), the fan speed and noise persists. System Cooling State is set to Passive, as well.
This has been going on, as I said, for several months. I'm really worried about it now, though, as I bought this laptop to be able to take into college classes which start in a couple of weeks. I need to get rid of this noise, otherwise I'm really stuck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
