G53jw-xA1 Display issues

Hello all, I am hoping someone here has seen this before, I did not have much luck in my search. Less than a year after purchasing my g53jw-xa1, I started having issues where the blacker range of colors would show up as green, and the whiter ranger of colors would show as pink. The odd thing about this issue is I was able to make it go away/getworse at times by pressing down on different sections of the laptop(ie. on the wrist wrest, or lifting up a corner of the laptop.)

My experience was less than stellar with tech support, but in the end I got an RMA and paid to ship my laptop in. The problem to my surprise was identified as being a faulty LCD. Unfortunately no glossy lcds where available for repair, so I got back a matte LCD. The problem did seem to be resolved for awhile, but as time has passed it has come back, and now it is happening near constantly again. It does happen more or less every time I play Diablo III for while, but i dont know I would say its related to the graphics card heating up rather than allot of tapping on the laptop. I have seen occasional issues that look like definite graphical corruption in Diablo III, but Im not sure if those are just driver issues and they certainly are not frequent enough to capture on video.

Previously I had figured this issue had to be a graphics card issue, but I found out that hooking up a external monitor on vga with display cloning, the issue is not present on the external monitor even when it is on the laptop's LCD.

I am reluctant to send in my laptop in again for this problem given the annoyance of contacting asus last time, and the price of shipping assuming I can even get this covered as its now past my one year warranty. Has anyone heard of this problem before? Is taking my laptop apart and re-hooking whatever cable connects the lcd to the graphics card an option, or does it likely need to be replaced regardless? If it is possible, is the required level of disassembly something that itself woudl void my warranty? Finally, does anyone have any experience with asus re-fixing a problem you previously sent the Laptop in for repair for?

You are correct that pressing on or manipulating the laptop to change behavior is indicative if a hardware problem and that if the video issue is not reproduced on an external monitor, it is likely a poor LVDS cable connection, faulty LVDS cable, or defective screen, the latter being the LEAST likely in your case. I suspect the elevated temperatures of gameplay cause expansion, leading up to a connection problem.

I recommend you completely remove the LVDS connector from the motherboard and reseat it, rather than just wiggle the connector, cleaning the contacts if necessary. If you are uncomfortable with the disassembly, choose a qualified local repair shop to do the job.

Those are awesome videos of the issue with good narrative! I've seen so many where the user remains silent, leaving you to figure out the details of the problem.
