Hey guys I am looking at upgrading my NVME drive. Currently have a 500GB installed was looking at buying this intel one

https://www.microcenter.com/product/511205/660p-2tb-ssd-3d-nand-qlc-m2-2280-pcie-nvme-30-x4-internal...

Has anyone upgraded theirs. Are there any additional steps I need to do after installation to see the drive or would it be plug and play?

That looks like a good deal on that NVMe drive.

Are you going to use a NVMe to USB adapter to copy your original drive to your new one?

Example: https://www.newegg.com/p/0VN-006F-00039?Description=m.2%20adapter%20nvme&cm_re=m.2_adapter_nvme-_-9S...

I recommend Macrium Reflect software to clone your drive.

Example: https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

If you have a SSD in your laptop as well, I suggest you remove it while performing the clone process.

Keep your original NVMe drive as a spare "fallback" drive if problems arise and the laptop needs to be returned for service.

While you are in there it would be a good time to install more memory (32GB Max) (2 16GB sticks).

I haven't been using the laptop too long so I was hoping for a fresh install of windows 10 on the new nvme drive. The copy of windows that my laptop came with. How would I go about that? Ive always built mine never had a prebuilt with a preinstalled windows on the device.

Cloning a drive is the preferred method for moving data from old to new drives. Of course the complication here is that you need a means to have both old and new drives attached at the same time. That is why I suggested the NVMe to USB adapter. A little slow (USB), but works good.

Macrium Reflect is the desired cloning software on this forum. The free version should work just fine. Research the software for yourself.

If that is too much trouble or expense, then by all means install a fresh Windows 10 platform.

Please remember to keep a copy of all your data and a copy of the eSupport Folder as well., on a USB. The eSupport Folder has the ASUS Installation Wizard that can be used to install all your original drivers and programs that came with your computer.
