Hey guys, I had to recently replace my hard drive and Im sure I installed most everything i had on my old hard drive.
Ive been having a problem where ingame i will be playing and suffer from random bursts of lag and terrible FPS. I notice they are more common when Im in a town or around a lot of other players.
Ive tried some stuff like redownloading my graphics card driver software but nothing seems to work.
this may sound silly, but try turning off your notebook, removing the hard drive, and reinserting it.
it's possible the hard drive may have a mechanical malfunction that's causing a system hang. or maybe it just isn't seated all the way to the sata connector.
Try changing anti-virus software. Sometimes resident programs like that can cause lag. Also make sure that you have the latest drivers and updates. Sometimes hard drives have firmware updates available that make them run better.
A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…
As Xeromist has pointed out please verify you have the latest Chipset and RST SATA Drivers installed which can be found at the Sticky post created by Chastity at the following URL as these 2 items are the biggest ones to most directly affect Disk I/O
Quick question, this new hard drive, would it happen to be a Crucial C300 or M4 ? Both of which have Non Destructive Firmware updates that help with stability under system load and random drive stutter.
Also an added suggestion, if you have any background torrents running disable those while playing as this will reduce not only the speed of your packets which will increase Latency but will also reduce the amount of Disk I/O you can utilize while playing games.
