G501JW Screen goes black during gaming

Hi.

So I have this issue where the screen suddenly goes black during boot or while in a game. The way I get the screen on again is by pressing FN+F7 (screen off) twice. Then it's a random time before it goes black again.

I also have another issue where more or less every online games is lagging like crazy. The games I've played is Dota 2 and CS:GO. Even with 90+ FPS there is almost an unplayable lag. I have been to multiple homes and had the same issue each time, even on LAN. The other people I play with in the same room have no issues whatsoever on their much less powerful laptops.

As you may understand, this makes the laptop useless in games.

I am running the latest available driver from Nvidia through GeForce Experience, and is using optimal settings.

The temps never go above 90°C, and that is in a room with a temperature below 25°C, with no blocking of the airflow from the laptop,

I have not made any hardware changes. The specifications are as follows: 1080p IPS, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, i7-4720HQ. More info where I bought it, here (beware, it's in Norwegian, but the specifications should be readable to anyone).

Does anyone know what may be causing this? Any help would be much appreciated!

I sent the G501JW in for RMA, got it back after a few weeks, the issues were still present. I fortunately got my money back after I sent the shop a complaint about it.

I think this machine needs more thorough engineering before it's ready for the market. It was crazy hot as well, temps went up to around 90 degrees celsius when gaming.

err i dunno about your unit but every G501 have a temp lock on 85or so and will underclock itself when it reaches that temp.
soo that is strange that ur unit can get to 90C

I used HWMonitor, maybe it read wrong from the sensors?
