G46VW and GTX 660m question

Hello there! Long time lurker, first time poster! Recently joined the ROG family last week with the G46 (with the updated i5 3230 processor) and had a question about how the GTX660m is used.

When I play a game, using the built in monitor, I exit the game and see the taskbar icon for intel HD graphics, I was wondering, is my laptop even using the NVidia card? Or is it using the intel graphics?

Thanks Mike, from what I understand, this notebook uses hybrid graphics correct? If so, I have no concern, but I do know that the 660m is being used

You can download optimus tools it will show you when your nvidia GPU is on or off. Also I way to tell is to use app like MSI Afterburner and use it monitor GPU usage/clock freq. A word of caution though is any application that polls the nvidia GPU for data will not allow it to turn completely off. So if you have the program set to start with windows it will eat your battery life up.
