Hi all! The G46VW is now available in the US from Best Buy .... with a 750GB HD BUT NO MSATA. Is it possible for user upgrade to add an Msata to the G46? How accessible is the msata slot?

Thanks!

Do you mean eSATA? if so I have seen some eSATA adapters to USB 3.0, no Idea if they work or not

Sukara, I dont understand your answer. Can a user put mSATA in? Is there a G46( one sold by Best Buy) assembly schematic, showing how to change HD an mSATA? one last question I hate win 8,how to go back to win 7 ( I have win 7 cd) do i need one? and how to get drivers for win 7, none are on asus website?
Thank you.

Joey_dey get "Classic Shell" with that and a couple of Registery edits Group Policy editing, you can have Win 8 run just like Win 7, By pass all the Tablet stuff Boot straight to desktop and have a start menu and still have Win 8 OS improvements.

from the official specifications it should have a mSATA port (based on a mere guess by looking at the storage section).

i just hope it's not like the mSATA port in g55 (i.e. located in non user serviceable area).

Ya. That's really my question. G46 specs SAY it has Msata, only can get it from Best Buy, BB is NOT putting msata in ... so is the msata in a place we can get to it, or, like the G55 and other Asus products is the G46 designed to make upgrading really really hard? Alienware 14" is easy to add msata drive ....

Related, can we even get to the HDD port to updgrade the hard drive? Official manual only shows access to the RAM port.

i DO think it is fail to have such low res on a screen, but, I travel one weekend a month, I can probably live with the worse screen on that weekend, to get the better portability (compared to G75). At home I just plug my notebooks into 32" 1080P TV with logitech gaming mouse and keyboard.

Thanks!

Does anyone even own or have the G46 ???? Can the bottom panel be removed to even upgrade the hdd, wireless card, ram etc????

Generally, only permission replace or upgrade the HDD or memory...
If replace ohters device, does not guarantee its stability

No offence, but ASUS should really get with the times and put the mSATA port in the servicable area in new models.
