G46 and simple ssd swap for someone new to laptops

Well I'm looking at buying a G46 becuase the price and performance match what I'm looking for. My question is about swapping the hard drive with a SSD. I do not want to buy a windows license so I would want to use the windows 8 that comes with the laptop. How would I do this since there is no dvd drive on the laptop?

I have built several desktops over the years but I have never messed with laptops. I have never opened one. Would swapping the HHD for a SSD void the warranty?

This is a simple swap, 750gb 5400 rpm for a SSD. I'm not looking to run two HHD drives in the laptop.

Most of what you need to know will be found in this thread, You would create a USB install disk, Or us a USB for software to complete a External USB hard drive "Your current Hard Drive" Macrium Reflect Would be a good program to use to copy your current HD to a Working OS etc. on your new SSD. A clean install would be preferred and save you lots of room on your SSD. However you will have to find a Window 8 ISO or DVD to create your install disk. Your Product ID is embedded on your motherboard. There are also program you can use to extract it. For some Win 8 DVD or ISO you may need to change the PID File to use your product ID, this is all covered In the linked thread I gave you.

Then you will have your current HD in a external case to save all your large data files etc.
