Fresco USB 3.0 driver causes BSOD and Printer errors

Hi guys,

I'm having a problem with my USB driver - there are two listed for my G73JW --

The old driver causes a problem where I am unable to print to my Canon printer - it just keeps saying printer not responding all the time and I can't get it to print.

The second, newer driver makes the printer work fine, and I have it installed again now, but it causes my computer to BSOD at least once a day and seems very unstable.

If I remove the driver altogether, I pretty much loose USB functionality...

So I'm not sure how to go about this one 😞 Using latest JW bios (tried with old and new)...

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Are you using the printer on the USB 2.0 ports, or the 3.0 port? You should be using the 2.0 ports....

I've tried with all ports actually -

Right now I don't have ANY fresco drivers installed - and so far no lockups, but of course there is no USB 3.0 support...

I'm having the same problem on my G73SW-A1. In fact, I can't even install the drivers without a BSOD. If I remove them, I have no USB 3.0 port, but no BSOD problems, either.

Which driver are you trying?

I'm trying to install the 3.5.4 driver that's on this site's driver page.

Try this:

  • Completely uninstall any existing USB 3.0 drivers
  • In Device Manager, delete all your USB devices
  • Re-boot, and allow Windows to discover and re-install the USB devices (This can take a few minutes)
  • Install Fresco driver 3.5.24.0, followed by the AsPatch that's included in the driver package
