external sound G74sx

I recently bought my g74 and know i figure that i have a problem cause i want to use my 5.1 speaker system.. So first of all is it a 5.1 soundcard in the G74?, i mean i did not thought they made cards with lesser then 5.1. And second is that where do i find the digital output solution.????

You need to go through HDMI for 5.1/7.1 sound.

OK thanks, but do you know anything about the digital sound output? When entering the sound settings there is an option Realtek Digital output but i have not seen any connector for it....?

The digital audio output is S/PDIF optical, and can only do 2.0 PCM. The drivers are the non-SRS ones, so no Dolby Digital Live. You can, however, get a USB sound card that support DD Live/DTS Connect or 5.1 analog output, like the Creative USB 5.1 Pro.

the usb option is usually the easiest and cheapest. you could run everything out through HDMI etc.

i know that i've seen some 5.1/7.1 headphones coming with the USB stick for output.
