Hello guys, I've got a question about buying an external sound card, is it worth buying ? I have Creative Audigy 2 ZS Platinium Pro ( I bought it maybe 6 or 7 years ago ) on my desktop and it's way better then my laptop's internal sound card ( g74SX-BBK-7 ). So I searched for external sound cards a bit and I've seen good comments about this X-Fi HD , this X-Fi Go! Pro and this X-Fi Surround. However I want to ask you guys if buying one of them is a good choice.
you will have a better audio experience with that one for sure.. but of course a good pair of speakers is also important. If sound is important for you.. you go ahead and buy it. peace..
I'm currently using Sennheiser PC350 headphones. I think it is more then enough headphone to reflect big differences in sound quality. Is there anyone using one of these products I mentioned in m first post ? If so can you tell me is it worth buying ?
i own both external sound cards you listed, i used the go! pro on my j73jh for my head phones and i used the 5.1 pro on my g74sx with bose mm5 speakers and they are mind blowing
I am using the X-Fi 5.1 pro with my G73JH, and it is definitely worth it. I use both my headphones and a decent set of 5.1 speakers and the sound is much better than onboard.

BUMP, would this be a viable option, if I wanted to buy a gaming headset that supports 5.1 or true 7.1 surround sound. I've been reading and the realtek digital outputs are all 2 channel audio in the advanced settings.
I'm guessing there are better cards out at this point? I think this is the path I'll take along with a pair of Razer 7.1 or 5.1 headphones. Can anyone recommend some good 7.1 external cards to use that are out for my G74SX? PLEASSSEEE I've been browsing best buy and newegg websites, sadly I see very few options available for 7.1, I see the creative 5.1 cards and they do look very nice. I read else where that most of the 7.1 is virtual( the tiamat 7.1 headset I want is true 7.1). But does anyone have some insight in regards to 7.1 vs 5.1.
