I've been reading upon the subject of getting an external 4k (or close to) monitor and have my eye set on the Asus PG348Q. The problem is that for the next few months I'll still be using my Asus G751JT laptop (until getting a desktop) and it only features a minidisplay port. Which means no 4k resolutions at above 60fps.
I've read there are some active adapters to run 100Hz+ frequencies, but has anyone used a minidisplay port + active Dual DVi adapter and succesfully ran 4k resolution at over 60fps, like 100Hz? (supported, not necessarily achievable in all games). Since I'm willing to shell the money for the monitor, I need to make sure I'll be able to use it at its potential.
